html5 app file read and writing using java script

new to app developing , developing an app in html 5 using visual studio, apatche cardova plugin , i want to to read and write a text file using java script , it should save in the mobile now my question is how to write it ? and where to save it exactly ? I am confused of giving the path where to save it and from where to read it.
